Why Convert SVG to JPG?
SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without losing quality — but not every platform supports it. Email clients, messaging apps, most social networks, and many CMS platforms only accept raster images (JPG, PNG, WebP). Converting your SVG to JPG lets you share it universally while controlling the exact pixel resolution you need.
Scale vs Resolution
| Scale | Example (100×100 SVG) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1× | 100 × 100 px | Small icons, thumbnails |
| 2× | 200 × 200 px | Retina screens, email |
| 3× | 300 × 300 px | Print-ready export |
| 4× | 400 × 400 px | Large print, banners |
About SVG Backgrounds
SVG files are often designed with a transparent background. JPG does not support transparency, so a background colour is required. White is the default and suits most logos. If your SVG is designed for a dark page, set the background colour to match so colours look correct in the output JPG.
SVG to JPG vs SVG to PNG — Which to Choose?
Choose JPG when you need the smallest possible file size and the image is going to an email, social platform or messaging app where transparency is not needed. JPG compresses well for logos with solid backgrounds. Choose PNG when the image needs a transparent background (e.g. a logo placed over a coloured section of a page), or when you need pixel-perfect lossless quality for print use. For web delivery, both formats are now widely supported, though WebP is smaller than either — convert to PNG first, then use the PNG to WebP Converter for the final web asset.
Platforms That Need JPG Instead of SVG
- Email clients — Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail block SVG for security. Use JPG or PNG for logos in email headers.
- Social networks — Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram require raster images for upload.
- Google Docs / Slides — SVG insertion is unreliable; JPG embeds cleanly and renders at full quality.
- Mobile messaging apps — WhatsApp, iMessage and Telegram do not render SVG images.
